EATING DISORDER AWARENESS
Campaigning for Eating Disorder Awareness at Millersville University
This campaign began with a simple question:
“what issue can we raise awareness of for local college students?” One ongoing issue among the age group was found to be eating disorders. With many foundations already providing help, the goal of this campaign was to raise awareness for both the problem and potential solutions for people who may need them.
Research
With a topic in mind, me and my team began to research existing companies and non-profits raising awareness for eating disorders. This provided us with several helpful links and services to begin contacting and finding out what can be provided to help students. We also began working with the University’s health services to find out what was already offered at Millersville University, which ended up being very minimal. This led to our next plan of action, to design several aids for the University to use in order to assist any students currently struggling with an eating disorder.
Part of our research included a survey to be conducted by students currently at Millersville University. This provided us with better insight of our target audience.
Poster
My objective when creating the poster was to provide struggling students, as well as students who may know someone struggling, with a source to begin getting the help they need. The poster was also meant to inform the public about how prevalent eating disorders are, and why it is important to get help.
Online Banner Ads
Another goal of the project was to create online banner ads to be used on the University website. I created three designs to accommodate a variety of sizes.
